Fruit Juice Recipes

Basket of Fresh Fruit

Hi! Welcome to my section on fruit juice recipes. Now there are some thing to keep in mind about making your own fruit juice with your Breville juicer.

First of all, fruit juice just is not as healthy as vegetable juice. It has very little fibre, a lot of sugar, and fewer nutrients than most vegetable juices will.

Fruit also has a much higher acid content than do most vegetables. Too much acid will can give you acid reflux and stomach pains. It can also strip enamel off your teeth (so if you’re one of those people who sucks pieces of lemon or lime between your teeth, stop it!)

So because of these reason you will want to make sure that you are getting more vegetables than fruits. In the beginning if you’re new to juicing and have a sweet tooth, you can make juices that are mixed fruits and veggies, than slowly wean yourself off the sweeter tastes until you can enjoy pure (or mostly pure) vegetable juice.

Now of course don’t get me wrong ,everyone enjoys a glass of pure fruit juice now and then and of course making your own juice (especially if you use organic fruit) is still far healthier than buying canned, bottled, or frozen juice.

But because of the fruit sugar (which just turns into empty calories, especially as juicing fruit takes out most of the fiber) and acid, you want to make sure that you limit yourself to maybe a glass of pure fruit juice per day, no more.

Alternately you can add it in smaller amounts to sweeten up you vegetable juice, which you may well want to do initially.

Pure vegetable juice can be a little intimidating initially, so until you get used to it I recommend adding a small amount of fruit or else a sweet, juicy vegetable such as carrot or beet to your vegetable juice.
